Califato islámico de Damasco (711 – 756)

Desde la conquista de al-Ándalus hasta la caída de los omeyas de Damasco, al-Ándalus estuvo gobernada por valíes o walíes. Generalmente el valí de al-Ándalus era nombrado por el gobernador de Ifriqiya (el norte de África) aunque en algunas ocasiones eran también designados por orden directa del califa de Damasco.
